Topographically located in an adverse profile, Casa Van Leeuwen takes advantage of this situation by setting a dichotomy, two opposing fronts, ying and yang.
The house, from its cold and distant side, turns its back to the vertical consequence of its burial in the mountain, and at the same time, creates a more private and intimate courtyard.
On the other side, it shows its warmest and kindest part so characteristic of our Mediterranean climate, opening up to the small town where it is located as well as to the sea. And it’s precisely on this side of the house that the noblest rooms are oriented for the enjoyment and recreation of such a welcoming environment.
