Casa Rutxei is a well-deserved craving in the mountains. It is a haven of peace on a plot located on a hillside of the Bernia mountain, surrounded by fruit trees and Mediterranean forest.
Under these premises, we had to bet on the integration of housing into its surroundings. A single large overhang acts as the roof of the house and as a shadow element that regulates and controls solar thermal gains. This cantilever has the particularity of being built in a south facing position, and it has been very well calculated for the shade mask which it casts throughout the year, to allow maximum insolation in winter, while providing maximum protection of temperature in summer. In practice, the user experiences light through the large windows and sliding doors, and at the same time, offer impressive panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
The house combines different textures of concrete that together with stone, on the outside, provide a warm and cozy appearance. Inside, the use of wood accentuates this warmth. The terrace is a transition from the interior to the exterior. The open plan design maximizes space and promotes fluidity between living, dining and kitchen areas.
The distribution of spaces has been thought with the aim of providing comfort and practicality, adapting to the needs of the family that inhabits the house. The study carried out on all materials, not only finishing but also construction materials, is a very important issue, since great care has been taken to avoid creating any interference that could affect the health of the user, while at the same time reducing the ecological footprint of the construction.
